Contest rules and regulations


ARTICLE 1: Organisation

Energy NV, with its head office at Schoebroekstraat 8, 3583 Paal (hereinafter also referred to as ‘the Organiser’) organises a competition ‘MyTrace’ that starts on 04/11/2019 at 12:00 and ends on 7/11/2019 at 21:00.

These regulations contain the conditions and the rules that are applied to the “MyTrace” competition.

There will not be correspondence about the rules, the questions, the competition’s mechanism or the stipulations of selection, neither by phone nor written.

The Organiser checks the correct course of the competition and has final say in any disputes. To guarantee this correct course, the Organiser can take decisions that result from circumstances, whether temporary or not, on the abolition or he may change any phase of the competition. Resulting from the fact of their participation, the participants undertake to subject themselves to the current rules and the Organiser’s decisions.

The Organiser reserves the right in the current competition, or part of it, to reduce, postpone, transfer, extend or cancel for any reason, if special circumstances or the correct course of the competition require this. The Organiser cannot be held liable for this.

During the competition, possible additions or, in case of force majeure, changes may be published after notification of the Organiser. They will be considered as annexes to these rules.

ARTICLE 2: Accessibility of the competition

Anyone who is 18 years or older at the time of the competition can participate in this competition, with the exception of employees of Energy NV. Minors may only participate in this competition if they have the permission of both parents or their guardian. If a minor participates in this competition, the Organizer assumes that he / she has permission from his / her parents / guardian. If the minor cannot provide this permission, he or she can be denied further participation in the competition at any time, or his / her right to a prize be taken away.

ARTICLE 3: Participation and prizes

You can participate in the competition via www.mytrace.be. The participation is strictly personal.

The competition is as follows:

  • Participants download the MyTrace app and register with their personal details (first name, name, place of residence, e-mail address, gender, student or non-student, education and student club). The rankings are drawn up and the prizes are distributed based on the personal data.
  • Participants follow the MyTrace track while running or walking and register their walking activity using the MyTrace app on their smartphone. Participants can start their running or walking activity anywhere on the course and choose their walking direction.
  • An activity is only valid if the entire course is completed at least once and by walking or running. Cycling is not allowed.
  • After the activity, the participants answer a knowledge question in the MyTrace app. Every day there is a new knowledge question.
  • The results of the participants' activities are displayed in the "Rankings" section on the MyTrace website.

Personal details given by the participant must be correct and complete. If a participant takes part under a different name or gives details that are not correct and/or complete, the participant loses any right to the prize. The prize then goes to the next winner in the order of ranking. The Organiser reserves the right to remove people who do not meet the conditions from the competition. They will also not be eligible for any prize.

A prize is not convertible in cash, neither in part or in full. A prize is issued in the winner’s name and is non-transferable. The Organiser cannot be held liable for any damage or loss resulting from taking part in this competition or of the assigning or sending of the prize. ARTICLE 4: Responsibility

The Organiser does not bear responsibility for technical problems of the participant or at the provider that could result in loss of data. No guarantee is given for the state, suitability, correctness, reliability, changes or the content of this competition.

The Organiser is not in any way responsible for unsuccessful attempts to take part in this competition.

Taking part in the competition falls under the full responsibility of the participants. Printing, spelling or other errors cannot be invoked as grounds for damages or any obligation of the Organiser.

ARTICLE 5: Determining the winners

The winning student clubs and winning individual participants will be contacted via e-mail. The winners will be those who respected the participation conditions and answered the questions correctly, as well as answering the bonus question correctly or approaching it as much as possible. If it turns out later on that the winner did not respect the participation conditions and/or if the winner does not respond before 31/12/2019, any right to a prize shall expire.

The individual winners are selected as follows:

  • The individual winners (student):
    • Each day, one day winner is chosen at random among the participants of that day who registered as student and who correctly answered the knowledge question. The winners of Monday 4/11, Tuesday 5/11 and Wednesday 6/11 will be contacted by mail within 24 hours and will win a Decathlon voucher of € 50. The winner of the day of Thursday 7/11 will be announced during the prize-giving ceremony on 7/11 at 22:00. If this person is not present during the award ceremony, a new name will be called up until a day winner has been determined.
    • All day winners must be present on Thursday 7/11 at 22:00 in the GUSB (Watersportlaan 3, 9000 Ghent) for the prize-giving ceremony. 1 main winner will be chosen among the 4 day winners based on a tiebreaker question that must be answered during the prize-giving ceremony. The person closest to the answer to the tiebreaker question ultimately wins a weekend to Ibiza with 2 friends (flight and staying included).
  • The individual winners (non-student):
    • Each day, one winner is chosen at random among the participants of that day who did not register as a student and who correctly answered the knowledge question. These day winners are contacted by e-mail and win a VIP Package for Cirque du Soleil.
  • The individual winners based on the leaderboards:
    • The "most awesome student of Ghent":
      • The male and female student who:
        • Registers the most completed laps during the competition will receive a prize. The winner will be notified by e-mail and his or her presence during the prize-giving ceremony is not compulsory.
        • Registers the fastest lap time during the race will receive a prize. The winner will be notified by e-mail and his or her presence during the prize-giving ceremony is not compulsory.
    • The "most awesome student of the University":
      • The male and female University student who:
        • Registers the most completed laps during the competition will receive a prize. The winner will be notified by e-mail and his or her presence during the prize-giving ceremony is not compulsory.
        • Registers the fastest lap time during the race will receive a prize. The winner will be notified by e-mail and his or her presence during the prize-giving ceremony is not compulsory.
    • The "most awesome student of the Hogeschool":
      • The male and female college student who:
        • Registers the most completed laps during the competition will receive a prize. The winner will be notified by e-mail and his or her presence during the prize-giving ceremony is not compulsory.
        • Registers the fastest lap time during the race will receive a prize. The winner will be notified by e-mail and his or her presence during the prize-giving ceremony is not compulsory.
    • The "most awesome non-student":
      • The male and female participant who is not a student and who:
        • Registers the most completed laps during the competition will receive a prize. The winner will be notified by e-mail and his or her presence during the prize-giving ceremony is not compulsory.
        • Registers the fastest lap time during the race will receive a prize. The winner will be notified by e-mail and his or her presence during the prize-giving ceremony is not compulsory.

The selection of the winning student clubs is done as follows:

  • "The most awesome student club" (average distance per member): The 3 student clubs that on average register the most laps per member during the competition receive a prize. If no person from the student club is present during the award ceremony, the prize will go to the next winning student club in the ranking.
  • "The most awesome student club" (total distance): The student club that registers the most laps in total (of all its members together) during the competition will receive a prize. If no person from the student club is present during the award ceremony, the prize will go to the next winning student club in the ranking.
  • "Student Club Challenge": The student club that during the Student Club Challenge on Thursday 7/11 between 19:00 and 21:00 has the largest number of its members register a valid running activity will receive a prize. If no person from the student club is present during the award ceremony, the prize will go to the next winning student club in the ranking.

ARTICLE 6: Disputes

Taking part in this competition implies the unconditional acceptance of the competition rules, as well as any possible decision the Organiser has to take. Any attempt to fraud will be punished with immediate exclusion of the participant. Unforeseen cases will be treated by the Organiser.

ARTICLE 8: Purchase obligation

Participation in the contest is completely free of charge and does not imply any purchase obligation.

ARTICLE 9: Applicable law

These regulations are under Belgian law and are interpreted or implemented in accordance with Belgian law. The courts of Brussels have sole jurisdiction for settling any disputes that may arise from this competition, or from the interpretation or application of these rules.
